I am importing an Excel file, but some of the cells from the original spreadsheet are coming up as blank in IDEA after the import. It happens in various fields for various records with no apparent rhyme or reason. Do you know why this might occur? We are on version 8. Thanks.

What version of Excel are you using? Try saving your file to an older version of Excel, like 2003. Excel has been updated since IDEA 8 has come up so it has problems sometimes reading some of the newer Excel files, saving it as an older version should solve the problem.

I saved it as csv and imported as text which worked, thanks. We are using 2010 i think.
Yes, that will work and that explains the problem. You would need IDEA V9 or 10 to be able to read the 2010 format for Excel. Thanks for the info.
