A convenient option to capture a specific set of rows / records / line items from an IDEA database to an independent child file is the function - “Save As Selected”.
Take an example. You have a set of cases (records) where the classic 2-way match rule (control) has failed where “Material Received is more than the Order Size”. Now you notice a set of records in the file having a huge discrepancy - say - material received is 3 times the order batch size. You wish to immediately render these “material control lapse records” to an independent child file for quick review and validation.
So simply select those lines in the database, right click on the selected lines and use the option - “Save As Selected”.
With this option only the lines selected will get rendered / exported to a separate IDEA child file within the File Explorer of IDEA. If it weren’t for this lesser known savvy utility in IDEA, the standard go to feature would be Export Database but with the range of records of your choice.
